Thai Beautiful Betta Fish Fin Variety Standard Chart BST 2025: Elevating the “Fighter of the Water” to the Global Stage

The Plakad Association and the Department of Fisheries have jointly made a significant historical step in elevating the standard of the Thai Betta fish, the “National Aquatic Animal,” to international parity. This was achieved by revising and developing the “Betta variety standard and judging criteria in Thailand, Revised Edition 2025 (BST: Betta Standard Thailand).”
The primary objectives of announcing the BST 2025 standard are:

• To elevate the Thai Betta standard to gain international acceptance.
• To increase the competitiveness of breeders in the global market.
• To establish a common understanding in breed development between exhibitors and judging committees nationwide.
  This new standard will serve as the main criteria for judging beautiful Betta fish competitions to ensure fairness and a clear direction for breed development.
  🎨 The new Thai Beautiful Betta Fish Standard classifies groups according to fin shape as follows:

Short Fin Variety (ปลากัดครีบสั้น): Focuses on the diversity of short fin shapes, such as Round Tail PK, Spade Tail PK, CTPK, HMPK, Giant HMPK, Halfmoon DTPK, Half Sun DTPK, Dumbo DTPK, and Round Tail DTPK.

Longfin Variety (ปลากัดครีบยาว): Focuses on the diversity of long fin shapes, such as Halfmoon (HM), Half Sun, DTHM, Giant HM, Giant DTHM, Brush Tail, Horse Tail, KCT, DR CT, DDR CT, CTDT.

Any Other Fin Variety (ปลากัดครีบรูปแบบอื่น): Covers special fin patterns like Rose Tail or Feather Tail.
